TULIP AWARDS
are annual Internet Awards for the
NICEST PERSONS ON EARTH
This new Internet Award is for personalities who contributed significantly in the
past year to make this world a better place. You can vote one(1) time per week and decide who
wins the 2005-edition.
This 2005 poll edition has been activated on 1 November 2005 and voting closes on 31 Januari 2006.
The 2006 edition will be activated in March 2006.
WHY THE NETHERLANDS?
The Netherlands is one of the most tolerant and liberal countries in the world, famous for (its) Canals - Diamonds -
Double Dutch - House of Orange - Windmills – Wooden Shoes - Anthony Fokker - Anne Frank – Vincent van Gogh – Mata Hari -
Rembrandt van Rijn - DAF - Heineken - KLM - Philips – Shell – Unilever – Karel Appel - Johann Cruijf –
Femke Janssen – Jeroen Krabbé - Richard Krajicek - Ari Luijendijk – Paul Verhoeven
and so much more.
But who says The Netherlands, says Dutch, and ... says FLOWERS.
The Netherlands have the worlds largest Flower Auction House and from all corners of our planet daily flowers and plants
arrive in Aalsmeer and Rijnsburg to find their way coloring life in Hong Kong, London, Madrid, Moskow, New York, Paris, Rio,
Rome, Tokyo and of course Amsterdam.
WHY A TULIP AWARD?
We are confronted with so much extreme fear on a daily basis that we almost forgot to notice the many good things and
it is time we start spending more attention to it, especially the global media. The Internet is an ideal environment
to start. The time has come for a dramatic change of certain attitudes in our society. Time to reject the detour
towards fear so we can safely open our doors for the better. Time to look out for friends through understanding and
mutual respect amongst people all over the world. This can NOT be achieved with aggression from whomever against
whomever. That is why we must spend more time to encourage and support positive attitudes and award its ambassadors
as example for a better future.
The Dutch say “Say it with Flowers!” and “Flowers love people so take them home!” and be frank, who doesn't like them?
Flowers are associated with the positive and the Tulip is the National Symbol of The Netherlands. For that reason the
Steering Committee of THE NICEST PERSON ON EARTH poll choose the TULIP as Award for its annual Internet election.

"The Tulip as symbol for The Netherlands is good for its reputation abroad but the trademark urgently requires
content”. That is what Staatssecretaris Karien van Gennip, the Dutch deputy minister of Economic Affairs, said during
a closed session about Branding at the Clingendael Institute in Den Hague on 17 November 2004.
TELEVISION SHOW
The Steering Committee would like to grant the most popular nominees with Golden, Silver and Bronze TULIPS to be
handed out by famous Dutch dignitaries and celebrities during a special television show in The Netherlands.
Proceeds of the show are donated to African Relief Projects.
The event will be on invitation only and if you leave a comment after voting, maybe you will be one of the lucky
special guests on the show.
